Mission Update Nov 2012

The 2012 Mission Team, of which I was a member, visited the Light of Love Home in Tuni and upon our return we made a presentation to Orchardhill Church, if you missed it please view the presentation on the link below or visit the Mission India page of the website, or speak to the team we love talking about our India experience!

Mission to India  Presentation

We then met up with the Scottish Love in Action leaders in Edinburgh to share our experiences and meet some of the next group of volunteers from the Edinburgh area heading out for the November Mission. It was great social occasion and as you can imagine, with Gillie and Jan providing the hospitality, a real fellowship occasion.

We have sent a letter, photo presentation with personal greetings and cash out to help with the Christmas celebrations. For the faith community at the home –cum –school this time of year is so uplifting and the participation of the children develops their faith – we await with excitement the news of their Christmas celebrations.

At the time of writing Andhra Pradesh is recovering from a cyclone and severe flooding, Tuni, where the home-cum-school is was particularly badly hit.

NASA (Nazareth Association for Social Awareness) who is SLA’s partners at the Light of Love Home took responsibility for the recovery programme. The children were given a week of school to help and set about packing and distributing 10,000 food parcels.

The Light of Love home school was the centre of the recovery programme with the emergency meeting held by the Chief Minister and 200 officials taking place in the school Hall.

Orchardhill are scheduled to send a Mission team out in July, if you have a call to Mission and can help in anyway please get in touch with me, Roseanne Henderson, Andrea Caldwell or Morag Osborne.
