Judy Byrne and Barbara Mackenzie have led the Orchardhill Junior Badminton Club for a number of years and at the end of last season put down their badminton rackets and retired from leading the club.
Judy and Barbara were a fantastic team each bringing their unique skills to the role. The children not only learned badminton skills, they learned life skills including fair play, compassion and kindness to each other and those working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award also developed their leadership skills.
Many children have passed through the Junior Badminton Club and have benefitted from the dedication, love and nurturing environment created by Judy and Barbara through their years of service.
The club ran from September to March each year on every Saturday morning throughout the season however there was additional time spent organising the administration of the club and Judy and Barbara are looking forward to having more time to spend with their families.
Their retirement was marked with a presentation at the last Junior Club morning session followed by a lunch. We all wish Judy and Barbara a very happy retirement.
