Stepping Stones

    Stepping Stones

'You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ'

1 Peter 2:5

A= Age Appropriate     B= Bible based     C= Christ Centered

We are committed to providing the children with a safe, secure environment in which they can listen and learn.

We seek to introduce them to Jesus through the Bible, through prayer & through friendships.

We want to see them to grow in their faith and have a heart for Service & Mission.

We are involved in various activities like singing, games, Bible stories, baking, mini-cinema, crafts, drawing, reading, fund raising, talks, work sheets, drama, discussions, playing, etc.

The children celebrate Christmas with an all-age nativity play. We also have special services or teaching at Harvest Thanksgiving and, of course, at Easter. There are also other opportunities for the children to show their parents what they have been doing and learning.

Sometimes the children gather together for an all age session, such as games, crafts or singing. We also join with the organisations for Youth services on various occasions throughout the year.

The children's offerings are gathered together each year and  the money is donated to children's charities both locally and abroad.

Teaching in Stepping Stones

We started this new programme last year.

Godly Play - a journey of Discovery

“In most Christian Education children are told who God is …

in Godly Play they discover who God is”

                                                                                          Rebecca Nye, Godly Play UK

Godly Play is unlike any other approach to Christian education.

It is very different - gentle and worshipful - founded in the expectation of, and belief in, the child’s capacity for spiritual response.

It allows children to explore Bible stories and Christian worship traditions in their own way and at their own level.

The story - whether it’s of the people of God, a parable or liturgy - is the focus, played out for the circle of children using specially made materials.

The children become part of the story and are invited to wonder about it.

New to Orchardhill

This year sees the introduction of The Joyful Path which is a "Spiritual Curriculum for Young Hearts and Minds".

We are very excited about this completely new venture and can't wait to present it to the children!

Online resources

We also subscribe to an online curriculum which we use to augment the above resources.

Our term runs the same as the school terms and children move up to their new classes each August. However children are welcome to join a class at any stage in the year. The children are also encouraged to bring friends and family to join them at any time.

We regularly have events or parties for the children at Christmas and at the end of the summer term we have Prize Giving and the Summer Outing.

Just bring your child along to Stepping Stones on a Sunday morning at 10.30 or if you have any questions then please contact Fiona or Linda who are part of our Leadership Team
