Tax Refund for home working

You will have seen Gareth's input in the online church services over the last couple of weeks - the idea that those people now working from home can claim tax relief and if they are able and willing that we are hoping to send a joint donation to a local housing charity. Even If you have only worked one day at home You will still be able to claim back a whole years tax betweeen £60 and £120 depending on whether you pay higher rate tax or not.
Well we have been contacted by people wanting to donate but who are unsure as to how to do this.
The best way is for people to make a direct bank transfer to the Orchardhill Church account and put 'Saffron Project' as the reference so that we can isolate the money for this charity and forward it on as a lump sum.
Below is all the information you will need
Make your donations by bank transfer to the Orchardhill Church account: Sort code - 82 63 25, Account number - 30235044, reference 'Saffron Project'.
For Gift Aid: email with your name and address if you are happy for this to be passed on to the Saffron Project for them to claim Gift Aid on your donation.
For information on how to claim tax relief if you have had to work from home this year go to the HMRC website (this will give you £60-£120 depending on whether you are a lower or higher income tax payer).

The local charity we are supporting is called the Saffron Housing Project which is part of the Southside Housing Association.  It helps young people aged 16-25 who are homeless, at risk of being made homeless or in an unsafe situation.  They provide furnished flats in the Southside of Glasgow for up to 2 years and help the young person manage their tenancy, helping with budgeting, education, getting them into employment and generally preparing them for a permanent tenancy.  Saffron Housing - Southside Housing Association (
