Afternoon Communion Service
We’re holding a short Communion service on Tuesday 1st August in church at 2pm followed by afternoon tea. All are welcome, and we particularly wish to welcome those who find attending Sunday worship challenging. Please pass word on. If transport is required, please email email@example.com.
Children are asked to help fill our holiday jar over the summer.
Hymns on Sundays
Do you have a hymn which means a deal to you? If so, we’d be pleased to sing it - and hear why it matters to you. Simply email firstname.lastname@example.org with your hymn and a brief comment and we’ll be back in touch!
Advance notice that we gather as a congregation for the whole day on Saturday 2nd September both to plan for our future as a congregation and to take some practical next steps. We hope you will make time available and come along with enthusiasm, ready to share your ideas and be encouraged at what we’re being called to do together for God here and beyond.
Summer Mission 7th-11th August
Plans are well under way for this year's Summer Mission. The theme this year is “On to the ark with Huntly”. Stories are being written, booklets prepared and all the many things which need organised are in hand. Anyone able to spare any time to help at the Mission itself should contact Fiona Carmichael who will be more than happy to find a suitable job for them. It is a fantastic opportunity for fellowship and outreach and is always a lot of fun for everyone involved. As always we are looking for donations of various items for crafts etc. and, if you are able to help, please leave your offerings in the box at the tower entrance to the church. Thank you for your help. Required items Rich Tea / Digestive biscuits Icing sugar White mini marshmallows Apple, Blackcurrant Orange cordial Selection of biscuits for kids snack time Party blowout tooters Googly eyes
Help is needed over the holiday period for teas and coffees after the Service and the flower deliveries in particular Sunday 30th July and Sunday 20th August. If you can assist please add your name to the list at the Tower Door. Many thanks.
Church Office will be re-opening on Tuesday 25 th July.
Isabella is on holiday from Wednesday 26th July to Thursday 17th August.
Dementia Group planning
We’re supporting the joint churches dementia cafe which will start in early October in the UR Church premises. There’s a planning meeting on Wednesday 2nd August at 12.15 in Giffnock URC to which everyone interested in supporting this work is invited.
David Reid Memorial Cup
Members and friends of Orchardhill are invited to compete for this trophy on Saturday 9th September at Rowallan Castle Golf Club, teeing off between 1.00pm and 2.00pm. A two course meal and prize giving will follow the event, which hopefully will be well supported. Please contact Alistair Cook, 07443 455 770, email email@example.com to register your interest.
Lodging House MissionAnnual Cycle Run
The LHM Annual Cycle Fundraising Run is taking place on Saturday 26th August. The route is the same as last year, relatively flat (!), leaving from Glasgow Green and covering 18 miles, finishing at LHM itself where a BBQ will be laid on for supporters and hungry cyclists. If you are able to take part, please pick up a form from the vestibule and return it in due course to either Isabella or Archie Hunter at the church.
